Content Policy
Last updated 28 October 2026
Hilarioous is comedy about relationships, family, work, money, and ordinary chaos. The laugh should still be fair to the person it is about. This policy is how editors decide what stays up.
1. What we want
Stories, meme cards, comments, and TikTok links should be readable in mixed company. Exaggeration is part of the form. Cruelty aimed at a real person who can be identified is not. Editors can shorten, retitle, add a watermarked image, or decline a submission.
2. What we do not publish
- Harassment, threats, or encouragement to harm a person or animal.
- Hate directed at a protected characteristic, including slurs used as the joke rather than as something the story is clearly against.
- Sexual content involving anyone under 18, or any sexual image of a real person shared without permission.
- Private information: home addresses, phone numbers, identity documents, medical details, or a private conversation posted to embarrass someone.
- Instructions that would help someone commit a crime or build a weapon.
- Spam, scam offers, and invented testimonials or traffic numbers. View counts on this site start from real reads.
- Copyrighted video, music, or images you do not have the right to share. TikTok links should be videos you have the right to feature.
3. Comments, replies, and reactions
Comments can wait for an editor before they appear. Signed-in readers can edit or delete their own comments. Replies follow the same rules as the comment they answer. Reactions are not comments and should not be used to brigade a story. Reports are read by editors. They are not published.
4. Submissions
A submission moves from pending to reviewed, accepted, or rejected. Accepted does not always mean the text will appear unchanged. Rejected submissions are not published. You will see the status on your account when the email on the submission matches your login.
5. Watermarks
Story covers and meme cards that we publish carry the Hilarioous logo at low opacity, usually in the lower right, without stretching the mark. The public file is the watermarked file. An unmarked original, when we still have one, is not the file the site serves. Saving or downloading the public image keeps the mark. Please leave it there when you repost.
6. Copyright and takedown
If you believe a story, image, or video link uses your work without permission, use the contact form and include:
- The URL on Hilarioous.
- A description of the work and where we can see the original.
- Your name and an email we can reply to.
- A short statement that you believe the use is not authorised, and that the information is accurate.
This is a practical notice process in the spirit of a takedown request. It is not a claim that a particular country’s statute has been formally invoked unless you say so and the details support it. Editors can unpublish while they look. If we remove something by mistake, tell us and we will review it again.
The same form is how you ask us to remove a story that exposes private information or names you in a way you did not agree to. We may ask for enough detail to find the page. We will not ask you to post that detail in a public comment.
7. Enforcement
Editors can edit, reject, unpublish, or close comments. Repeated abuse can end an account. We do not promise to review every report the same day. We do not publish a list of people we have banned.
